About Our Organization
Because They Matter is a Non-Profit organization started in 2021 during the COVID-19 Pandemic. We saw the hurt and pain in the inability of our elderly and disadvantaged loved ones to connect with the outside world while residing in either community or sheltered housing away from their family and friends. We believe that "Because They Matter" to us and the world they live in, we owe it to them to help with technology and our volunteers to reconnect them with someone who will simply share a FaceTime or Google Meet video call and lunch that we deliver.
Our Mission
Our Mission is to give them that human-to-human interaction we have seen lost with the effects of the COVID-19 Pandemic and medical isolation. This distance and resultant isolation may have been determined to keep them safe and we respect that. Through this we endeavor to find a way to share a meal and a warm conversation, or listening ear to understand what is going on in their life and re-connect them with the outside world using technology. This is to ensure that they don't lose out on a key component of quality of life in the ability to simply interact with another person, regardless of what may be happening in the world to complicate such interaction.
